The American Dental Association published an article that describes resolutions that caution again self-managed orthodontic treatment. The resolution states that they “believe that supervision by a licensed dentist is necessary for all phases of orthodontic treatment including oral examinations, study models of scans of the mouth, treatment planning and prescriptions, periodic progress assessments and final assessments with stabilizing measures.
