Vitamins and Oral Health

  • Vitamin A – Vitamin A helps to prevent dry mouth and oral cancer. There is a mucous membrane inside the mouth to protect the gum tissues. If the mouth is overly dry, the gums are vulnerable to damage and infection. Vulnerable gums are more susceptible to oral cancer.
  • Vitamin B – B vitamins are important for the overall health of the blood stream. Gums are living tissues with a direct blood supply from the heart. A Vitamin B deficiency is often linked to receding gums, bleeding gums, tooth sensitivity, and sores in the mouth.
  • Vitamin C – Vitamin C has immunity boosters that help to keep the entire body free from infection. An increase in Vitamin C helps to ward off germs that can cause damage to your oral and general health.
