Invisalign Defined

What is Invisalign? Invisalign treatment is a discreet, convenient, and proven approach to orthodontic treatment. Instead of the bulky brackets and wires of metal braces, the Invisalign system uses clear and removable aligner trays custom-fit to a patient’s teeth. Since these clear aligners are made of transparent plastic, Invisalign is a virtually invisible orthodontic treatment. This treatment is prevalent among teens and adults who prefer a more subtle approach to achieving a perfect smile.

Besides discretion, Invisalign aligners are also comfortable to wear, easy to clean, and do not require as much maintenance as metal braces. With proper care, patients can achieve a beautifully aligned smile in a shorter time than traditional braces. Whether a patient’s dental needs are mild or complex, the Invisalign system can provide a tailored solution to improve their oral health and boost their confidence.

Who Is the Best Candidate for Invisalign?

While individual opinions may vary, many patients speak positively about Invisalign treatment. As a modern alternative to metal braces, Invisalign enhances your smile and oral health. The clear aligners are custom-made to fit your teeth, reducing the risk of gum disease and tooth decay resulting from traditional braces. Additionally, Invisalign lets you maintain your usual oral hygiene routine, as the aligners are removable and easy to clean. Say goodbye to painful braces and hello to a healthier, more confident you with Invisalign clear aligners.

How Invisalign Works

The Invisalign process starts with a consultation at our Garment District dental office. During the initial consultation, Group Health Dental will take the time to discuss your goals, oral health, and budget to determine if Invisalign is a good option for you. Here, we will examine your smile and predict what results Invisalign can offer in your unique situation and potentially provide an idealistic treatment timeline. We can use our iTero™ scanner to get detailed images of your smile for precise planning.

Upon moving forward with the Invisalign process, our dentists will take digital impressions of your teeth that can be used to create a series of custom-fitting aligners. By wearing the aligners as instructed (and for at least 22 hours each day), your teeth will gradually shift into the desired position, leading to functional and aesthetic benefits.
